We are convinced, that there is a lot to learn mutually.

Yes, SpendeDirekt is a tax exempt association. This means, that donations towards us can be deducted from the taxes in Switzerland. We send out donation confirmations each January.

Yes, we work on a voluntary basis for SpendeDirekt. There are no salaries in Switzerland that have to be paid with your donation. The overhead e.g. for server costs are paid by the association. Except for the transfer cots your whole donation is passed on to the partner organisations. You can donate on a voluntary basis to the association SpendeDirekt.

With credit card transactions we pay 2.7% plus 0.30 Swiss Francs (CHF) per transaction. Payment slips und bank transfers don’t have fees for transactions within Switzerland. To transfer the donations to the partner organisations, based on our experience, we have to pay around 2-3% for transfer- and currency-fees. This means in the end the transfer costs will be around 5%. We will regularly inform about those numbers.
SpendeDirekt doesn’t have the financial possibilities to cover those costs. These costs always have to be paid when sending donations to other countries. But most of the time they are not explicitly mentioned. For us, it is important to be transparent towards the donors about everything.

We know all the partner organisations in person and visited them. Through this initial quality management during the onboarding process we are able to vouch for our partners. Additionally, all the partner organisations are scanning und uploading their receipts. This enables us to spot possible abuses and potentially intervene.

As a donor, you can donate either collectively to all organisations or to a specific organisation. The organisations then decide on their own, on which projects they are going to spend the donation.
Collective donations are distributed through SpendeDirekt based on the needs of the organisations. This is done in dialogue with the partners.

Sustainability is the main goal of SpendeDirekt. We don’t collect donations just for the sake of collecting them. That’s why we explicitly don’t have growth targets. In the case that our partner organisations are overwhelmed by the amount of donations coming in, we will engage in a dialogue and temporarily hold back transfers until we find ways to work together with the organisations, to help them define impactful projects for which they have the needed resources.

All our partners have been proposed by people working in development aid and are known to us since multiple years. On top of that, all our organisations are led by local people and have a size, where impact is created even with small donations.
